About LCVSD

LCVSD is an all volunteer organization, with a Board of Directors that is made up of environmental advocates, community activists, and concerned San Diegans who work together to ensure the protection and embalancement of the region's precious natural resources. LCVSD is proud to count among its past Board Members some of today's leading decision makers, including Council members Donna Frye.

Jamie Gonzalez, President

Jamie Gonzalez, President for the League of Conservation Voters San Diego, joined the Board in 2005. She worked for the University of California Sea Grant Extension Program on pollution prevention programs for the boating community of San Diego before deciding to work at home raising her kids.

Paul Worlie, Vice President

Paul Worlie is Director of Environmental Policy for Liquid Environmental Solutions, a national liquid waste recovery and recycling firm based in San Diego. He is responsible for tracking and advising the company on all environmental legislation and regulations at the federal, state and local level.

Todd Cardiff, Secretary

Todd Cardiff is a long time environmental activist with the Surfrider Foundation. Todd served as the Vice Chair of the San Luis Bay Chapter of Surfrider from 1995-1999, as a member of the San Diego Chapter's Executive Committee in 2000-2003, and as Chairman of the San Diego Chapter in 2005. He is now a legal advisor and member of the Advisory Committee for the San Diego Chapter.

Richard Barrera

Richard Barrera is the Director of Responsible Development for the Center on Policy Initiatives, helping build working coalitions of labor, community and environmental organizations to advance an agenda for sustainable and equitable growth in San Diego. Most recently, he ran as the LCVSD endorsed candidate for San Diego County 4th District Supervisor.

Amy Denhart

Amy Denhart is the director of public affairs for Planned Parenthood of San Diego and Riverside Counties where she is responsible for the organization's advocacy and public policy efforts. She returned to the organization in 2001 after having served two years as the San Diego area director for U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer.

Poppy DeMarco Dennis

As Elected Member, and Parks and Open Space Chair of San Dieguito Planning Board for over 12 years, Poppy DeMarco Dennis developed the Open Space and Environmental Plan for this 95 sq. mi., including S. Carlsbad to Torrey Pines Beach and East to I-15, and also worked with other regions to create special considerations in the zoning ordinance for rural/hillside road standards, stricter grading standards, and more review of “lot splits.”

Alonso Gonzalez

Alonso Gonzalez has worked with the San Diego City Council since 2001.He has served as the Deputy Chief of Staff to Councilmember Ben Hueso since 2006. Alonso is the committee consultant to the City's Land Use and Housing Commission and works closely with the California Coastal Commission.

Lorena Gonzalez

In January of 2008, Lorena Gonzalez became the secretary-treasurer and CEO for the San Diego-Imperial Counties Labor Council, AFL-CIO. The Labor Council is a coalition of 119 local unions that represent more than 120,000 working families in the region. Upon her election, Lorena became the first woman and first person of color to serve as head of the Labor Council since the organization’s inception in 1902.

Colin Parent

Colin Parent is an attorney in San Diego specializing in commercial litigation, antitrust and political law. He is a 2007 graduate of NYU Law School, where he received the Vanderbilt Medal for outstanding service to the School of Law. Parent founded the San Diego lawyer's chapter of the American Constitution Society, a national organization dedicated to advancing a progressive view of law and policy.

Humberto Peraza is the District Chief of Staff to U.S. Congressman Bob Filner. Prior to working with Congressman Filner, Humberto served as the Statewide Latino Director and San Diego-Imperial Counties Area Director for U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer. He also worked for U.S. Congressman Xavier Becerra in Washington DC as his Hispanic Caucus Liaison and Executive Assistant.

Katy Rexford is the Senior Program Manager for the California League of Conservation Voters and CLCV Education Fund. She serves as the liaison between the California state LCV and the nine local leagues throughout the state, and simultaneously manages CLCV Ed Fund's Green California program, a collaboration of over 50 local, statewide, and national organizations designed to increase collaboration among environmental organizations working on state level policy.

Allison Rolfe is the Director of Planning and Entitlements for Pacifica Companies, a diversified real estate development company. She is the Project Manager for the company’s Seacoast Inn Redevelopment Project, the Chula Vista Bayfront Master Plan development, and the Grover Beach Lodge.

Bruce Reznik, Executive Director

Bruce Reznik, a California licensed attorney specializing in environmental law, has served as Executive Director of San Diego Coastkeeper since August 1999, where he directs the organization's advocacy and outreach efforts to protect the bays and coastal waters of San Diego County. Under Bruce's direction, Coastkeeper has grown to a full-time staff of seven, making it the largest clean water advocacy organization in the region.
